Dr Jean-Luc Fugit

President, Conseil Supérieur de l’Énergie (French Higher Council for Energy); Member of Parliament for the 11th constituency of the Rhône, France

Jean-Luc Fugit is President of the Conseil Supérieur de l’Énergie (French Higher Council for Energy) and the Member of Parliament for the 11th constituency of the Rhône. He holds a PhD in Engineering in Chemistry and is a teacher-researcher by training, with a particular focus on environmental issues and air pollution.

Bringing together consumers, energy companies, trade unions, local authorities, and state officials, the Higher Council for Energy ensures regular dialogue and close collaboration among these key energy sector stakeholders in the development of the French Government’s energy policy. The Council is consulted on regulatory texts relating to the sector, and therefore plays a fundamental role in enabling energy industry stakeholders to work closely with the State on the development of France’s energy policy and its practical application into the daily lives of the French people.

In line with his commitments, he has put his academic career on hold to fully dedicate himself to his parliamentary duties. Since his election in 2017, he devotes all his time and energy to representing the 130,000 residents of the 38 municipalities that make up his diverse urban and rural constituency.
