Donovan Storey, PhD

Global Waste Hub Lead, Climate & Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) & Waste and Climate Change Expert, United Nations Environment Programme

Dr Donovan Storey is currently with the Climate and Clean Air Coalition, an initiative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). CCAC is the principal international organisation working on integrated climate and clean air solutions to reduce the rate of near-term warming. In his capacity Donovan acts as the secretariat expert on waste and climate change, supporting and catalysing the actions of State and non-State actors to reduce emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) including methane, black carbon, HFCs and tropospheric ozone. From 2023 Donovan was nominated to the UNFCCC Roster of Experts, supporting State Parties in implementation of the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) of the Paris Agreement. Prior to joining CCAC Donovan worked in senior capacities in international and diplomatic organisations, with the United Nations and the Global Green Growth Institute, having started his career as an academic specializing in urbanisation, social inclusion and environment. Donovan has extensive work experience in Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands, and has published over 30 peer reviewed articles in his fields of expertise. He holds a PhD in International Development and a Master of Laws, in international law, from the University of London.
