PRESS RELEASE: World Biogas Association unveils new look

  • New logo and branding ‘reflect benefits of biogas across multiple sectors’
  • New look unveiled on eve of world’s largest dedicated biogas show
  • Biogas ‘can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% worldwide’

The World Biogas Association (WBA), the global trade body for the anaerobic digestion (AD) and biogas industry, has unveiled a new look on the eve of the world’s largest dedicated biogas tradeshow.

The new WBA logo incorporates a multi-coloured circle, reflecting the contribution of biogas to the circular economy across a wide spectrum of sectors (including energy, farming, transport, waste management, and human health) in every country in the world.

WBA President David Newman said:

We’re really excited to unveil WBA’s vibrant new look, which reflects this exciting industry’s huge potential and the benefits it offers across multiple sectors. AD and biogas technologies can help to achieve nine of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 20%, and they are ready for adoption right across the globe.

AD and biogas technologies convert organic wastes and energy crops into renewable energy, clean transport fuel, and nutrient-rich biofertiliser, helping to reduce emissions whilst improving energy and food security and improving air quality.

The new look for WBA was unveiled on the eve of UK AD & World Biogas Expo 2018, the world’s largest tradeshow dedicated solely to AD and biogas. The show, which takes place on the 11th-12th July at the NEC in Birmingham, UK, brings together AD and biogas professionals and other stakeholders from around the world, and will feature the UK launch of the WBA’s new report Global Food Waste Management: An Implementation Guide For Cities, written in collaboration with C40 Cities.

David Newman said of the report’s UK launch:

This report demonstrates the impact that using biogas technologies to recycle inedible food waste can have in cities right around the world. Our report shows that managing global food waste sustainably could reduce emissions by the same amount as taking all cars in the EU off the road for a year, so there are huge opportunities for cities looking to meet their decarbonisation targets whilst improving the wellbeing of their residents.
