A surgeon lending a hand in changing the world for good.
Eleven years ago, Stockholm based surgeon Jan Rapp was awe stricken when he realized
what AD technology could do for the world. Since then, he has received the same award as
Sweden´s only astronaut Christer Fuglesang, been named Environmental Hero of the Year
and his model for sorting of organic waste that is now being used in all Stockholm hospitals
was highly commended at the 2018 World Biogas Expo in Birmingham.
Dividing his working week between medical practice and non-profit organisation Biogas
Academy Jan Rapp is the MD who has made sure the banana peels and teabags from
BillerudKorsnäs, a Swedish Dow Jones top ranked sustainability champion, become useful in
fueling low carbon cars. Jan is also responsible for the fact that the Nobel Banquet Dinner
2019 will be cooked on stoves fueled by non fossil biogas produced from local Stockholm
Internationally, Biogas Academy is promoting ADs recognition in many ways. One is by
encouraging grund breakers like Charles Vigliotti, CEO of Long Island Compost and president
of American Organic Energy who in February 2018 received Global Game Changer Award
from the hands of Dr Rapp.
Father of the biogas logo, Dr Rapp´s ideas and concepts on how to promote AD as a uniquely
versatile key in fighting climate change are now attracting interest on three continents.
