Chief Climate Finance Officer, African Development Bank

Topic: Biogas and Sustainable Finance: Taking a Systems Approach to Funding success

Timothy Afful-Koomson is a Chief Climate Finance Officer with the African Development Bank (AfDB). He is currently coordinating the operations of the Green Climate Fund (GCF). He led the engagement with the GCF for the mobilization of over $210 million for 7 approved funding proposals. Prior to his role as the GCF Coordinator, he also led  the screening and integration of climate finance in over 50 AfDB infrastructure projects with total climate financing of over US$ 1.8 billion.

Timothy spent over 12 years in the private sector working with companies such as Merrill Lynch and Navigant Consulting and was involved in structuring, executing and managing sustainable investment transactions particularly in renewable energy, energy efficiency and timberland investments totalling over US$ 50 billion.

Timothy graduated from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University with a PhD in International Relations with concentration in International Trade and Investment and International Environment and Resource Policy.
