Director, Equanimator

16:00 – 17:00 Biogas and the Food Waste Management Revolution

30 years experience in environmental matters, as campaigner, researcher, and consultant (the last 25 years). Founder of Eunomia Research & Consulting in 2001, where I was Chairman and was the lead Director for the company’s work on policy / strategy, and sustainable business.

Now Director of Equanimator; Trustee of Avon Wildlife Trust; Honorary Member of the Green Angel Syndicate; and member of the Scientific Committee of Zero Waste Europe.

I’m seeking new ways to solve the enormous environmental problems facing us. I’ll be focusing more time on thinking problems through, and how to unlock systems that feel worryingly ‘locked-in’ (one of the areas of exploration in my PhD). I’ll be looking at novel market mechanisms, and technologies that enable their deployment, across environmental themes (climate change, waste management, resource management, biodiversity loss, air quality – all those intractable problems which we need to confront as rapidly as we can). That, as well as educating myself in moral philosophy and behavioural psychology – we’ve lost touch with what’s right.

I’ve worked with major corporates, governments, the European Commission, and major NGOs. I’m not a spring chicken any more, so it’s not just the planet that is running out of time. It’s time to think very big. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be some local stuff happening too…..
