Brad Douville, President, Greenlane Biogas (chair)
Michele Ziosi, Head of Institutional Relations Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia, CNH Industrial and Daniele Pozzo Product Evolution and Business Intelligence, FPT Industrial; Policies and Powertrains: Delivering a Bright Future for Renewable Natural Gas
Rafael Fernandez Martinez, Vice-Chair of the Distribution Committee, Eurogas, will outline the potential role of renewable natural gas in the decarbonisation of the grid in light of imminent new EU-wide legislation
Megan Woodworth, Head of Resource Recovery at Loowatt, will outline the need to provide sanitation services to the 4.5 billion people currently living in towns and cities where there is no sewer, and the opportunity for anaerobic digestion. A recent winner of Cleantech Innovate’s Gamechanger Prize, Loowatt has developed toilets for use where there is no sewer system, sending waste to AD. Currently active in Manilla and Madagascar, their solution could potentially end the one million deaths each year that are caused by fecal-borne illnesses while helping countries meet their Paris Agreement targets.
Break
12:30 – 12:45

Dr Portugal-Pereira will discuss the scope of the report and highlight the importance of biomass/bioenergy in the portfolio of mitigation responses and potential synergies/trade-offs with other sustainable development dimensions.
Market Mechanisms to Stimulate the Growth of the Biogas Industry Globally
Ole Hvelplund, CEO Nature Energy, Denmark
Brad Douville, President, Greenlane Biogas
Marta Kamola-Martines , Director New Gas, Engie
15:00 – 16:30
Read more
Growth of the anaerobic digestion industry to date has been largely dependent on government support in the form of grants or subsidies. If the industry is to achieve its potential, however, at a speed that will help keep the world below 1.5 degrees warming, it needs to get off subsidy. This panel will look at the market mechanisms that might valorise the environmental services that biogas delivers to stimulate its growth exponentially.
Day 1 close
16:30
DAY 2
Doors open – 09:00
How can a Global Biogas Mark Drive Awareness and Growth of the Biogas Industry?
David Vann, Director, ABA
Rich Clothier, Managing Director, Wyke Farms
Andrew Dunne, Global Brand Marketing Projects Manager, New Holland Agriculture
10:00 – 11:00
Read more
Brands have the power to shift consumer behaviour and educate the public. This panel discusses the potential for companies to adopt a global Biogas mark and the impact that a such a mark (think ‘Fairtrade’ or ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’) can have on raising public awareness of and participation in biogas. As part of the session, a proposed Biogas mark will also be unveiled.
Anaerobic Digestion in Ireland: Challenges and Opportunities

Designing systems to optimise biowaste feedstock for anaerobic digestion is determined as much by outputs, such as what to do with the digestate, as it is by the practicalities of education, capture and delivery. This panel of experts addresses the six key considerations and share their experiences of meeting the challenges.
